Putting it Together

Step 1:
hexagon of diamonds
Using the image at left and your wine colorway, crochet your six “star” diamonds together in the shape of a star using the reverse single crochet. It helps if you lay your diamonds out on a flat surface first. Work it one diamond at a time, making only one Rsc in each stitch of the diamonds.

Reverse Single Crochet Tuitorial here.

The diamonds will not fit together perfectly at first. I recommend laying them in position and blocking them into the star shape before crocheting them together. It isn’t required but I think you’ll have better results if you do.

Step 2:
hexagon of diamonds
Using the image above and your wine colorway, crochet your six “background” diamonds together using the reverse single crochet.

Fasten off and weave in all of your ends.

Add the Border

Bind on the white colorway at any point of the hexagon.

Round 1: Ch 1 and single crochet in same space (only counts as one stitch).

*Make one sc in each of the next 10 stitches. Make one sc in the corner of red diamond. Make 2 sc in the ch 3 gap space of next white diamond. Make one sc in the next 10 stitches. In the next ch 2 gap – 2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc.*

Repeat instructions beginning with *

Repeat until you have made it around the hexagon. Join with a slst to the first stitch. (29 stitches each flat side)

Fasten off white colorway and weave in your ends.

Blocking one last time is a good idea to get a clean hexagon shape!
