Your finished (unblocked) diamond granny square will measure approximately 3” on each side, 3.5” from soft corner to soft corner and 5” from sharp corner to sharp corner.

Instructions

Round 1: Ch. 3 Join with the first chain to form a ring. Ch 7. In center of ring, [tc, tc, dc, dc, ch, dc, dc, tc, tc, ch 3, tc, tc, dc, dc, ch, dc, dc, tc]. Join with 4th chain. (16 sts)

Round 2: Ch 6. Dc 2 times in ch 3 gap space. Dc once in the next 4 sts. In ch 1 gap space, [dc, ch 2, dc]. Dc in next 4 sts. In ch 3 gap space, [2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc]. Dc in next 4 sts. In ch 1 gap space, [dc, ch 2, dc]. Dc in last 4 sts. Dc once in gap space from prev round. Join with 3rd ch.

Round 3: Ch 6. Dc 2 times in ch 3 gap space. Dc once in the next 7 sts. In ch 2 gap space, [dc, ch 2, dc]. Dc in next 7 sts. In ch 3 gap space, [2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc]. Dc in next 7 sts. In ch 1 gap space, [dc, ch 2, dc]. Dc in last 7 sts. Dc once in gap space from prev round. Join with 3rd ch.

Finishing
I recommend blocking your diamonds after you have crocheted and sewn in your ends. This will give your diamonds a more defined shape.
