Classic Mint Julep
Classic Mint Julep

Yield: 1 serving


2 oz. good bourbon
1 Tbsp. mint syrup (recipe follows)
Mint sprigs to garnish
Shaved or crushed ice

  1. Mix the bourbon and syrup and serve in frosted cups or glasses over crushed ice. Add mint sprig and a straw. (Cut straw to fit glass.)
Mint Syrup

1½ - 2 C chopped mint leaves
2 C water
2 C sugar

Instructions for Syrup
  1. In a saucepan crush mint into sugar. Add water and bring to boil. Stir until sugar is dissolved and remove from the heat. Cover and let cool. Strain to remove the mint which is discarded. Store in a corked bottle in refrigerator until needed.
